Spectacular New York Label Pink and Black Promenade Gown
A fabulous original circa 1869 lady's vibrant pink silk taffeta and black silk velvet striped two piece bustled promenade gown.
A lined and stayed bodice with beautiful blonde lace cuffs & matching pleated stand up collar, black silk velvet self fabric buttons to the front closure, a V-back construction with a stayed tail, piped at the neckline, armscyes and skirt hem.
The inner cinch waistband or Petersham reads "MRS. C. DONOVAN, 8 East Eighteenth Street, NEW-YORK."
The voluminous skirt has a full train, very fashionable for 1869, with an attached overskirt to the front, piped petals to the hem, and a black silk velvet underskirt with a matching velvet binding to the overskirt. A directionally pleated back to the waistband, and a large bunted bustle.
